Pull onto the hard shoulder, an emergency area or a lay-by if you can, and switch on your hazard lights. Get out on the side away from traffic and wait behind the barrier if it's safe, then call us. If you've stopped in a live lane and can't get out safely, stay in the vehicle with your seatbelt on and call 999.
How much does recovery cost on the M40?
Recovery is from £80 within 15 miles of Warwick (standard recovery and hours, weekdays 07:00–18:00). Further afield, it's charged per loaded mile. Out-of-hours uplifts apply in the evenings, overnight, at weekends and on bank holidays, and we confirm the price before we set off.
